The “Archive-2025” Scientific and Methodological Center

The “Archive-2025” Scientific and Methodological Center was established under the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Purpose of the Center

The Center’s primary goal is to provide coordination and methodological support for the implementation of the “Archive-2025” program, as outlined in the First President’s (Elbasy) article, “Seven Facets of the Great Steppe.” This includes organizing scientific research based on documents from domestic and international archives in collaboration with government agencies, archives, universities, institutes, and the scientific community. These efforts aim to provide a comprehensive and deep understanding of national history.

Key Objectives

  • Inventorying: Cataloging archival documents brought from abroad by Kazakhstani archives and researchers.
  • Database Management: Creating a unified database of repatriated archival documents.
  • International Cooperation: Establishing mechanisms for collaboration with foreign archives to implement “Archive-2025” program initiatives.
  • Coordination: Ensuring interdepartmental coordination and collaboration with government bodies and the scientific community at all levels.

Methodological Support and Planned Activities

The Center provides methodological support for search and research missions conducted by specialized groups of historians, scientists, and archivists. This is achieved through systematic, long-term cooperation with major domestic and international archives.

The program’s scope includes:

  • Identifying, collecting, systematizing, and publishing archival materials.
  • Digitizing returned archival documents.
  • Publishing books, reference guides, collections, and catalogs based on research findings.

Project work and scientific research within the “Archive-2025” framework are implemented in stages. These activities involve interdepartmental and international cooperation, carried out in partnership with universities, research centers, and local executive bodies.
